How do I become a member?

If you wish to become a member of SAPFIA, you must be a Rights Holder in the small Pelagic Sector.

Please fill in your details on the application form below and submit to the secretariat. We will
then contact you to confirm the process to be followed.

Our functions

Representing our Members...

...in negotiations with the Government of the Republic of South Africa or any other legislative or administrative body with regard to Industry matters.

To consider, report, advise...

...and make representations on existing or new legislation or any such matters affecting the Industry, the interests of the Association or its Members and to promote, support or oppose such legislation.

To become a member...

...or join another organization or body or to work together with such body or organization within or without the Republic of South Africa if the interests of the Members could be served thereby.

To assist our Members...

...with any administrative or technical matters concerning their membership and the Association.

To assist...

...in the functioning of the Sea Management Committee.

To take the necessary steps...

... to advance the interest of the Industry and to generally act on behalf of its Members in any direction in which their interests may be affected.

The South African Pelagic Fishing Industry Association (SAPFIA) is a legally recognised industrial body which represents a large number of Rights Holder who hold approximately 67% of sardine rights and 70% of anchovy rights in the small pelagic fishing sector.
